GCSE Results 2016
Cove School Goes From Strength to Strength.
Cove School is once again celebrating another year of improvement in our GCSE results. We have continued a three year upward trend in the number of students gaining 5A*-C incl. English and Maths. This year 51% of our students gained the headline measure an increase of 6% on last year’s figures, with a significant increase on the new Progress 8 score.
Headteacher, Dr King said, “We are all extremely proud of our students and the hard work they have put into their GCSEs. During a time when the school has gone through significant change, coupled with increased national challenge, the dedication of the staff and the students has shone through.”
Several subject areas have made significant improvements this year including drama (89% A*-C), music (71% A*-C), German (78% A*-C) and additional maths (100% A*-C). Our core subjects of English, maths and science have remained strong in these challenging times.
We would like to congratulate all our students but there are a few that need a special mention:
Head boy and Head girl, Jogerson Gurung and Lily Wheeler, achieved all A*/A grades and 2 Bs, along with a total of 13 students who gained mainly A*/A grades. Leading the school’s results was Vanessa Igodifo with 10A* and 1A grade, closely followed by Chloe Harley-Shoveller with 5A* and 6As, and Katherine Whitehead with 9As.
There were some students who might not have achieved straight ‘A’ grades but who achieved nearly 2 grades higher than they were predicted based upon their achievement at Key Stage 2. Through a lot of hard work and dedication Nanita Chand, Emily Gilbert and Katrina Elder were among those who made excellent progress whilst at Cove School.
Headteacher, Dr King said, “ These results demonstrate our determined vision to continuously improve the educational outcomes for all our students at Cove and our relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching through dedicated and hardworking staff.”
Cove School is in no way complacent as we continue our upward journey, building on these achievements in the future and ensure continued success for all our students.
