#Cove School 02 June

GCSE exams continued this week following the sunny half-term break. This morning, students prepared for their Physics GCSE exam by attending the Physics Masterclass led by Mr Mahmood. The session ensured that students were well prepared and ready when the exam began. The next whole-cohort examination is Mathematics, which takes place tomorrow morning. A similar Maths Masterclass will be available from 8:30am to help students make their final preparations before the exam.

Leaver's assembly for the Class of 2026. A mixture of emotions as our amazing Year 11 students have their last assembly at Cove School. As they bring their formal education to an end and leave us in a few weeks time ready for whatever the future brings, we wish them all the very best. They have grown up into fine young men and women ready to make a difference in the world. We will miss them, please keep in touch and let us know how life works out!

Today is World Bee Day, and what better way to celebrate than by sharing this incredible creation by one of our talented Year 7 students! 🐝✨ Our lovely Lila in Year 7 has created the most amazing extended project outcome. Year 7 have been set extended projects as homework tasks in Art and had the task of creating a 3D bug made out of any material of their choice. It’s great to see such good cross collaboration with other subjects, and this one looks very tasty! Well done, Lila, on such an incredible piece of work. As part of our school careers programme, yesterday we took a group of year 10 students to Aldershot Construction College (FCOT) to take part in the colleges Discovery Day. Students joined workshops and carried out hands on tasks in; Bricklaying, Plumbing, Carpentry and Electrical Installation. Students produced some excellent work, the college tutors were very impressed with how well our students engaged with each all of the tasks. Thank you to FCOT for hosting this event.

Well done to our Year 10 Drama GCSE students! This week they completed their Devising Mock Performance which goes towards 30% of their course. Parents were invited to come and watch their first run through and were delighted to see what their children have been working towards over the last few months. We have a month to go until the final assessment, and this experience has really helped our students understand what needs polishing and fine tuning for the big day!

Year 11 GCSE exams are under way! starting with English Lit this morning, which went very well. Students kept their focus and worked hard. We wish them all the very best.

Our amazing Year 10 students engaging with and learning from real world scientists about sustainable energy sources. Many futuristic designs were created by our enthusiastic students. Thank you to the 'National Grid' and the 'Smallpeice Trust' for sponsoring this event.

As our Year 11 students approach the end of their time with us, we are offering the opportunity to purchase a Leavers’ Hoodie and a Yearbook to help celebrate their time at Cove School. #Cove School 28 April

From today students can wear summer uniform! This means that students can wear their light blue school polo shirts (proudly representing their correct house) instead of their white shirts and ties if they wish. A blazer must be worn over the top and not a jumper or hoodie. However, they can remove their blazer when it is particularly warm and put them in their bags. The only two options are: - Normal uniform - white shirt, tie and blazer. (Please note - jumpers are not a replacement for blazers!). - Blue polo shirt and blazer. (Year 11 who have the black polo shirts can obviously continue to wear these). All students must continue to wear black shoes, black trousers, or school skirt. If a student owns and wishes to wear school shorts from Brenda’s this is allowed.

This week we took 2 groups of year 9 students to visit 'Audley Woods Hotel' and 'Sherfield Oaks Golf Club' in Basingstoke. These trips gave students first hand experience of the workplace focusing on the Hospitality and Sport workplace sectors. Students took part in activities relating to various job roles at both locations and also had in depth behind the scenes tours of the hotel and club grounds. Students were able to speak to employees to gain an insight into the day to day running of a 4 star hotel and a Golf Club. Thank you to James at Audley Woods and Luke (Cove School alumni) at Sherfield Oaks for generously hosting Cove School!

LOST PROPERTY: If you recognise any of the items below, or on our website https://www.coveschool.uk/our-community/lost-property, please contact us on 01252 542397 or get your child to visit Health and Welfare or Reception, during their break or lunchtime, to retrieve their item. Items will be kept until the end of term before being recycled or donated to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. PLEASE ENSURE ITEMS ARE NAMED OR LABELLED (especially clothing) SO THEY CAN BE RETURNED EASILY. Any unnamed uniform, will be held for a short period of time before being donated to our Behaviour Hut.

#Cove School 13 April

Hampshire County Council have informed us that St John's Road will have limited access and parking today and tomorrow between 9am - 3pm. The road is due to be re-surfaced and will have loose stones after the work has been completed. If the work becomes delayed due to weather conditions, then it may be Wednesday/Thursday when the work is finished. Please can you try to park away from the school Entry and Exit gates while the work is in progress. Thank you in advance for your help with the above.

In the Deaf and Hearing Loss Hub, we have been celebrating Sign Language Week! We have been working with our Deaf Instructor to learn new signs and creating banners and posters to celebrate.
