RADIO - ACTIVE! It may be the second last week of term, but nothing is slowing down just yet here at Cove. In English, Mrs Celino's class have been working creatively and collaboratively to produce their own radio show to round up their term on 'Island at the End of Everything'

🎭 MATILDA OPENING NIGHT! 🎭 After months of hard work, and after a fantastic dress rehearsal to Cove Juniors this morning, the cast and crew of Matilda are very excited to perform to an audience tonight and tomorrow at 7pm! Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from ScoPay. Don't miss out, or Trunchball will chuck you in the chokey!

Yesterday a group of Year 9 students visited Farnborough International Airport for a tour of the airport and the aircraft hangers. Students gained an insight into the day-to-day operations of the airport as well as the many career opportunities available within the aviation industry. Thank you to Mark Sanderson and the team at the airport for hosting our students-it was a fantastic day!

This week we were delighted to welcome the popular Young Adult author, Chris Bradford into school. Chris delivered lively and interactive presentations to all Year 7 and year 9 students themed around his best-selling books from the Young Samuria and Bodyguard series Chris has also written many other books - all of which are available for students to loan from the school library and our digital library - ideal for their Summer Holiday Reading! A big Thank you to Chris for delivering such vibrant and inspirational presentations.

Our year 8 Hampshire Book Award Group have been avidly reading the 6 HBA books since March so it was with great anticipation and excitement that they recently went to Eggers School to take part in the final voting day along with schools from across Hampshire. Students took part in book discussions around all of the books and then cast their vote on their favorite. The overall winning book was; Smoke and Mirrors by Barry Jonsberg All of the HBA books are available for students to loan from the school library & SORA. All students received a certificate-Well Done to our HBA team!

Yesterday our Year 9 students visited Farnborough Business Park to take part in The Sustainable Skies Careers Fair, where they interacted with representatives from the aviation industry, asking questions and finding out how the aviation industry are working towards Carbon Free admissions by 2050 Students also attended a series of presentations from experts from the aviation industry, including British Airways, The Air League, Neboair and Farnborough International Airport. The whole group were exceptionally well behaved throughout the day-a real credit to Cove School.

On Wednesday a group of Year 10 students visited Aldershot college campus for an interactive tester workshop. Students were able to take part in all of the four courses available at the college; Construction, Plumbing, Carpentry and Electric installation. The whole group worked really well together, taking part in all of the activities and engaging with the college students and lecturers in a very mature manner. Thank you to Farnborough College of Technology for hosting this event.

Last Thursday, 8th May 2025 the nation marked 80 years since the end of WWII in Europe. Cove School joined in celebrating this important event - celebrating 80 years of peace and remembering the sacrifices that were made in order for that to happen. Students enjoyed a celebratory afternoon on the field with picnics, games and music, culminating in an exciting Y10 v Staff tug-of-war (the staff team are still feeling the defeat!) and the whole school singing the National Anthem, which was incredibly moving. We hope that the students will remember these events and how they celebrated VE Day 80 in years to come.

Testing Times....As SATs start and GCSE's get fully underway with English Lit today, we'd like to take a moment to wish our Year 11's and our future Year 7's all the very best of luck. We hope you know both your work and your worth!

Yesterday was a very hands-on and engaging day for the Year 10 students attending Farnborough College of Technology to take part in the college's annual Discovery Day. Students were able to take part in various workshops including; Health and Social Care, Sports and Uniformed Protective Services, Games Design, Engineering, Hair and Beauty and Media, to name just a few. Thank you to Farnborough College of Technology for another fantastic event!

Our Year 10 Boys Football team have had an outstanding season, dominating nearly every match they've played with yesterday's 7-0 victory against Ameryhill in the Final being no exception. What a dramatic and well-deserved finish to a remarkable season. Well done, boys! You've done us and yourselves very proud👏👏👏💪💪💪

Over the past 7 months, our Shakespeare School students have been working very hard on creating their own retelling of Macbeth. After weeks of dedicated rehearsals, their performance was taken to the Haymarket Theatre in Basingstoke last week where they even got an outdoor theatre rehearsal experience before taking to the stage. Full of their own Cove twist, they definitely entertained their audience, enjoyed their experience and made us incredibly proud. Thank you to all our students and ever-supportive parents involved for another enjoyable year. All of your hard work certainly paid off.

The week Year 7 and 8 were treated to a Poetry Presentation by our visiting poet 'Adisa The Verbalizer' who gave a very lively, interactive, creative presentation with a mixture of his poetry and works to date. He explained how he goes about writing his poetry and where he gets his inspiration. Thank you to Adisa for delivering the workshops in such a fun and vibrant way!

And so another successful National Careers Week draws to a close. From HR and Recruitment, the Satellite Spaces sector to the many Apprenticeship opportunities, as well as the career pathways available within the NHS, our Year 7 - 11 students benefitted from insightful, inspiring and informative presentations by our engaging guest speakers. A very big Thank You to all our guest speakers. Your insights, wisdoms and shared career experiences were well-received and really seemed to resonate with and inspire our students.
