Easter Egg Art Competition! Following the success of our Christmas Card Competition, we are delighted to announce that the Art Department will be hosting an Easter Egg Art Competition this term. We would like to encourage your son/daughter to get involved in this creative opportunity. The competition will officially launch on Monday 2nd February, when students can collect a wooden egg from the Art Department. Students are invited to decorate their wooden egg using any materials of their choice, with the theme of “Artists”. We would like students to decorate their egg in the style of an artist they admire. For example, students could create: • Starry Night in the style of Vincent van Gogh • A bold, patterned design inspired by Yayoi Kusama • A colourful, abstract egg inspired by Piet Mondrian • A surreal design in the style of Salvador Dalí • A pop-art inspired egg influenced by Andy Warhol These are just examples, and students are welcome to choose any artist that inspires them. The deadline for entries is Friday 13th March. Completed Easter eggs should be clearly labelled with the student’s name and tutor group and dropped off to Miss Phillips in Room 27 by this date. Judging will take place shortly after the deadline, and prizes will be awarded to one student per year group. The competition is open to all students in Years 7–11. We only have 110 wooden eggs, so first come, first serve! Good luck! We hope many students will take part and enjoy showcasing their creativity. At this seminar you will be able to: ● Find out about how to get into teaching, gaining school experience and the funding available ● Learn about teacher training with us and how to apply ● Speak to current trainees and teachers about training and teaching as a career. Today, Year 10 students attended an interactive presentation by 'Working Wonders' on the theme of Raising Aspirations. Looking at the importance of qualifications, and exploring the skills and behaviours needed to be resilient in the world of employment. The programme aims to: - Explore dealing with challenges and plans that don’t work out in an unpredictable job market - Reinforce the importance of qualifications to help future-proof your career in a changing job market - Emphasise the importance of all exam subjects, not just the lessons that will most obviously feed into a chosen career path - Raise aspirations - Promote University as being a positive option for all students, regardless of career choice or route. Lost Property - A few items have been collected from Lost Property by students this term. However we do still have a huge amount of unclaimed items (picture shows a few of the more recent items). On Friday 16th January all items will be donated to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. If your child has lost any items please get them to visit Lost Property before then.

Well done to our Readathon Graduates 2026. Reading for 12 hours straight is not for the weak minded! These exceptional humans deserve our admiration and praise! Not only have they shown resilience and stamina, but they have also raised a staggering £413 for the Read For Good Hospital Programme – providing brand new books and regular storyteller visits to the UK’s 30 major children’s hospitals.

Our Year 8's have been busy producing some exceptional work on Sherlock Holmes which is on display in the Library for other students and staff to admire. Well done to all of them for their hard work!

Our KS3 Christmas Card Competition was a real highlight this term. We were delighted to welcome Emma Carr, Creative Arts Manager at Frimley Health, who kindly judged the competition. We received over 40 entries, all showing wonderful imagination and festive creativity. Congratulations to our winners: Year 7 - Isabella M Year 8 - Nadia D Year 9 - Ryan K The winners received art prizes including sketchbooks, a watercolour palette, paintbrushes and sketching pencils. Well done to everyone who entered - the standard was extremely high! We’re already planning more competitions, so keep an eye out for our Easter competition next term.

LOST PROPERTY: These unnamed items have been handed in since September 2025. If you recognise any of these items please get your child to collect them from Health and Welfare at breaktime tomorrow, or alternatively please contact the school so we can return the item to your child. We have a huge number of unclaimed items of lost property currently held in Health and Welfare. Students who have lost items are invited to visit Health and Welfare during the first week of term, from Monday 5 January to Friday 9 January 2026, before morning registration, at breaktime, or at lunchtime, to check for their belongings. After this date, all unclaimed items will be donated to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Today saw another successful Cove Christmas Lunch, this time provided by our new caterers. Turkey and stuffing, and our vegan option of roasted vegetable, cranberry and cheese puff pastry wreath was followed by a cookie or brownie. Enjoyed by all students and staff.

This week our year 9 students of Spanish and French were treated to amazing performances by the Onatti Theatre Company. The actors performed a very interactive play entirely in Spanish on Monday, and French on Tuesday. The students really enjoyed the interactive experience!
