Ahead of Remembrance Day on 9th November, we now have poppies for sale in Reception and in the Library. If your child would like to buy one please send them in with a small amount of change for a donation.

All year 11 students attended our school Careers Fayre this week. Students heard from local colleges and were able to interact with the many visitors in school for this important event which included; Farnborough 6th Form College, FCoT, BCoT, Activate Learning, Complete Coaching, Farnborough International Airport, Rushmoor Borough Council, Fluor, NHS, McDonalds, Bass Entertainment and The University of Surrey and more! Students were able to speak to all of the visitors and ask questions and discovered the many exciting pathways available for post-16 education and training.

Cove School needs You! Remembrance Day is a very special day at Cove School and we want to always increase the number of people within our community that we recognise. If you are an ex-service person or you would like to remember someone special who fought in a war or was an ex-service person, please send details to us. We would like to know name, armed force, date of birth, what relation they are to you and any applicable information about their career. We will then hold them forever dear in our Roll of Honour. Yesterday we took a group of year 8 students to Brooklands Innovation Academy for their annual Science & Engineering Careers Day. Students took part in various hands-on workshops including; Pit Stop Showdown, Discover Highways and Offshore Cable Lay Challenge. We heard from speakers from the world of work in Science and Maths, including Professor Brian Cox, which the students found really inspirational. Over 400 students attended from 40 schools, our students were really well engaged throughout the day taking part in all of the events and activities with enthusiasm. At the end of the day there was an awards celebration and two of our students won an award for 'Outstanding Contribution' which was an amazing achievement! Well done to; Alfie and Lizzy!

RADIO - ACTIVE! It may be the second last week of term, but nothing is slowing down just yet here at Cove. In English, Mrs Celino's class have been working creatively and collaboratively to produce their own radio show to round up their term on 'Island at the End of Everything'

🎭 MATILDA OPENING NIGHT! 🎭 After months of hard work, and after a fantastic dress rehearsal to Cove Juniors this morning, the cast and crew of Matilda are very excited to perform to an audience tonight and tomorrow at 7pm! Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from ScoPay. Don't miss out, or Trunchball will chuck you in the chokey!

Yesterday a group of Year 9 students visited Farnborough International Airport for a tour of the airport and the aircraft hangers. Students gained an insight into the day-to-day operations of the airport as well as the many career opportunities available within the aviation industry. Thank you to Mark Sanderson and the team at the airport for hosting our students-it was a fantastic day!

This week we were delighted to welcome the popular Young Adult author, Chris Bradford into school. Chris delivered lively and interactive presentations to all Year 7 and year 9 students themed around his best-selling books from the Young Samuria and Bodyguard series Chris has also written many other books - all of which are available for students to loan from the school library and our digital library - ideal for their Summer Holiday Reading! A big Thank you to Chris for delivering such vibrant and inspirational presentations.

Our year 8 Hampshire Book Award Group have been avidly reading the 6 HBA books since March so it was with great anticipation and excitement that they recently went to Eggers School to take part in the final voting day along with schools from across Hampshire. Students took part in book discussions around all of the books and then cast their vote on their favorite. The overall winning book was; Smoke and Mirrors by Barry Jonsberg All of the HBA books are available for students to loan from the school library & SORA. All students received a certificate-Well Done to our HBA team!

Yesterday our Year 9 students visited Farnborough Business Park to take part in The Sustainable Skies Careers Fair, where they interacted with representatives from the aviation industry, asking questions and finding out how the aviation industry are working towards Carbon Free admissions by 2050 Students also attended a series of presentations from experts from the aviation industry, including British Airways, The Air League, Neboair and Farnborough International Airport. The whole group were exceptionally well behaved throughout the day-a real credit to Cove School.

On Wednesday a group of Year 10 students visited Aldershot college campus for an interactive tester workshop. Students were able to take part in all of the four courses available at the college; Construction, Plumbing, Carpentry and Electric installation. The whole group worked really well together, taking part in all of the activities and engaging with the college students and lecturers in a very mature manner. Thank you to Farnborough College of Technology for hosting this event.

Last Thursday, 8th May 2025 the nation marked 80 years since the end of WWII in Europe. Cove School joined in celebrating this important event - celebrating 80 years of peace and remembering the sacrifices that were made in order for that to happen. Students enjoyed a celebratory afternoon on the field with picnics, games and music, culminating in an exciting Y10 v Staff tug-of-war (the staff team are still feeling the defeat!) and the whole school singing the National Anthem, which was incredibly moving. We hope that the students will remember these events and how they celebrated VE Day 80 in years to come.
